Some people do it naturally and don’t even think about it. But when you describe it to others it can get mystical and confusing fast. The concept is not really that hard once it’s broken into steps so that you can learn to do it. The largest thing that should be emphasized is safety. Don’t allow yourself so much random wondering that you end up lost or somewhere you’re not supposed to be. Having done this before, I can tell you it’s not fun. I would recommend that if you don’t know how to properly deal with energy or protect yourself from it then you should start with that first.
So let’s break it down into some steps and see if it helps.
1. The oh so famous let’s relax step. There’s a reason it works and that’s why it always comes first. A troubled mind is less sensitive to the little things surrounding it. So start with your breathing. Take some nice deep breaths. Hold for a moment in between inhaling and exhaling. Let your body relax and get a feel for what’s around you. What does the air feel like. What noises are around you. Once you feel calmed and more open then go ahead to the next step. If you can’t relax then that may be a good sign that you are not in a good place to practice and you should try somewhere else.
2. Now we are going to expand our energy outwards a bit. Depending on your situation, you may want to create your own personal shield or other to protect yourself. Now I have seen more than once that once someone puts up a shield they find themselves blocked out of what’s around them as well. So let’s get around this without endangering ourselves. I want you to focus on your breathing again. Each time you breathe out, send a wisp or a tendril of energy outside of your personal bubble. Think of it like air or smoke or even creating a spider web. Have the back end of these wisps or the like against your bubble so you can feel them but let the arm extend out freely. Once you get the hang of this you should be able to extend them or contract them according to how you want to use them. Like a spider in a web, when some other energy brushes them you want to be able to register it. So don’t just push them out and let go. Feel them like an extension to you. Move around and practice using your whiskers. See what they can pick up for you.
If at some point it feels like something catches one or you get a bad feeling then drop it like a lizard drops its tail. Do not bring it back to you. This will prevent you from dragging anything with it straight into your own protections. We aren’t fishing after all. Reinforce your protections and make your next decision based off of where you are.
Have some fun with this. Go shopping and practice feeling around inanimate objects. See if any items feel different then the ones around them. Go to a plant store or a park and practice feeling the difference between the plants. Or where the plants are vs where they are not. After some practice, you can even do this around people. See what you learn and keep notes.
